I was thinking about the sense of belonging to a certain community and reflecting on what communities are around me after I moved to Rhode Island. For this work I chose a key as a symbol of community, home, belonging and acceptance. I collected over 400 old used keys from my neighbors. The keys were accumulated by setting up donation boxed, by calling/sending letter to people in different neighbourhoods, by visiting estate sales and many other ways.
