Elena Kalkova is a multimedia Russian artist and researcher, living and working in Providence, RI. Her works include drawings, collages, installations, textiles, working with archives. In her practice she explores feminism and gender identity in the Post-Soviet space, complex relationships with home, family relationships, especially between different generations of women of the same family. Elena holds an MA in Global Arts and Cultures from RISD. She was a fellow at School of Visual Arts residency in 2020 which resulted in a group exhibition at Tiger Strikes Asteroid and is a fellow of Berlin Institute of Art (BAI) in August/September 2021. Prior, Kalkova worked as an education assistant at the RISD museum and as an Art and English educator in Hong Kong and Moscow.
