Elena Kalkova is a multimedia Russian artist and researcher of Eastern European Art History, living and working in NYC, US. Her works include drawings, collages, installations, textiles, working with archives. In her practice she explores feminism and construction of gender in the Post-Soviet space, complex relationships with home, family relationships, especially between different generations of women of the same family.

 

Elena's research lies primarily in the field of feminist and queer art and art of resistance and translation. Elena holds an MA in Global Arts and Cultures from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). She is currently working on her MFA at the School Of Visual Arts (SVA).
